Job Summary The Gas Operation Technician position is an entry level position responsible for working with the Gas Operation Technician III level position on the operation, maintenance, and construction of Dominion Energy South Carolina's natural gas system.
Duties include:
responding to pipeline damages, repairs and replacements to below-ground gas pipelines and fittings, working in conditions where natural gas is present, responding to customer calls/concerns, completing customer meter orders (blocking, unblocking, pulling meters for testing, painting meters, conducting zero use and high bill complaint investigations), performing above ground leak repairs, performing underground line locating, conducting leak survey and atmospheric corrosion surveys, performing valve maintenance work, and conducting odorant checks.
In addition to working with Gas Operation Technician III's, Gas Operation Technician I's will go through the Gas Apprentice Training Program, a four-year program involving training courses and Operational Qualifications (OQ) which includes electronic testing and hands-on testing.
Continuous advancement and OQ in the training program are required.
The successful candidate should be driven towards graduating the program and the Gas Operation Technician III career.
This position reports to Dominion Energy South Carolina Bluffton Office in Bluffton, South Carolina.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
0-2 years' experience.
Must be routinely available for call out or emergency situations and be able to work overtime; Must live within the service territory of the assigned work location; Must have the ability to read and apply applicable procedures, document compliance activities, and wear self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) in hazardous environments; Must be able to work in trenches and excavations with mud and water, cutting or joining pipe both inside and outside, using a jackhammer and other heavy equipment to excavate sites for street construction, continuous standing, sitting, or walking, climbing ladders, crawling under houses and in attics, working outdoors in various weather conditions, and/or driving 6 to 8 hours daily; Must be able to lift up to 24 pounds repeatedly throughout the day and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds; Ability to work well with diverse teams and customers, good communication skills, time management & organizational skills, problem-solving skills, ability to adapt to quickly changing demands, schedules, and priorities.

Qualifications:
Experience and knowledge with natural gas pipeline construction, operations, maintenance, repairs, or hot tapping & stopping operations; Experience working in underground utility construction, maintenance, or other relevant work experience; Experience with underground line locating; Commercial Driver's License (Class A) obtained.
Education Requirements Completion of high school diploma or equivalent (i.
e.
, GED) is required.
Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description Must be able to obtain Commercial Driver's license (Class A) within twelve months of start date.
